I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what this little gnome is!!
The pickups of course are aftermarket. But... OMG the rest is a bit of a trainwreck, and fascinating.
MY GUESS - a Chicago prototype that never went to production. The string-tree overkill says they were sorta thrashing around. The serial number can be interpreted as 1981... but I'm leaning toward 1978, possibly put together from Japanese components or only final assembly to a finished neck/body.
If it were less than $700, I'd own it already.
