Some informed speculation:
The inlays on the 998 remind me A LOT of those on the v.2 Switch Signature models. Here's the latter --

The inlays used by Canvas in their brief run are different but (to my eye) the same esthetic drive --
So I have to wonder if maybe both the AU-998 and the Vibracells were a product of Canvas parent Sejung.
