A worthy instrument that is both solid and flashy -- sporting a thousand (or so) inlay chips and a quarter-mile of binding: Bought it new in mid-2010 (from World Music Supply and I've babied the heck outta it. It's a laminate top, of course -- spalt maple isn't easy to select as a top. Not so loud as my plywood Alvarez or Aria but a nice balance. It was clearly intended for plug-in work, where it shines. Biggest bummer: This made me actively dislike the much-hyped Buzz Feiten Tuning System. If I tune to open strings by the built-in tuner, it sounds "off" by fret five. I've gone back to ear-tuning it, and it plays fine. Second-biggest bummer: black tuner buttons on the Grovers. (Incidentally, it seems to be one of the final Washburn models to get stock Grovers. ) I may someday replace them with some nice amber-colored knobs in the rectangular Grover shape. I paid a bit over $460, which included shipping AND the specific Washburn hardshell case (brown). I have seen these used for under $450, often without any case. A recommended buy at that range, particularly if you want a unique-looking stage guitar.
