No idea if there's ANYTHING official in that name. Yeah, it's a bass-range harmonica... yeah there's two stuck together... but "double bass" seems a bit of a stretch. I have seen this sort of Hohner called a "long bass," distinguishing from the smaller modern "short bass" models that are much closer to the ubiquitous (perhaps omnipresent) Marine Band size. As I grew up as a "Green Acres" fan, I've always wanted to try a bass (because it features prominently in the soundtrack) even though they reportedly take a LOT of wind -- seems like it'd be really amusing to put down my electric bass at a jam and pull out one of these beasts for a tune or two. And, really, a half-decent used Squire bass would cost me as much as this thing. Seeing as a new Hohner Bass 78 shorty sells for $1600, this one seems almost reasonable at $299.99 + $20. It is, however, from a pawnshop, so no idea how long it's been unplayed (at least 10 months, for certain) or any issues it might have. The back looks clean, though, so it likely wasn't abused by a toddler or the family dog.
